Lustrage (~ shining/brushing)

Description

The lustrage - or finition lustrée - (brushing - or brushed finish) results in a leather-like texture.
It can be done on flat and uneven surfaces.
The lustrage is done “dry” without running water.
It is carried out when the plaster has hardened considerably (past the point where it can be cut with the berthelet).
Brush forcefully with a hard bristle scrub brush until the surface begin to become to resemble rind or leather.
An additional lustrage can be done the following day to further smoothen the surface.
If the lustrage leaves distinct imprints of the bristles, stop and wait for further hardening before continuing.
Important : do not wet either the plaster, or the brush.
